Buttoned Up

{J. Crew shirt (on sale!), Old Navy skirt, Report sneakers (love the black croc), Kate Spade New York bag}

A black and white outfit is the perfect backdrop to layer on the patterns. To add some interest, I went with a neutral shoe (leopard is a neutral, right?), then added a little bit of fun with my new gingham bag. Summery, yet appropriate for lots of occasions.

Navy Blues

{Marshall's dress, Gap wedges, J. Crew necklace (on sale!), Kate Spade bag}

Happy Memorial Day!

I like to think of this outfit as festive dressing in a restrained way. As much as I love over-the-top red, white and blue ensembles, sometimes less is more unexpected. Also, the divine Kate Spade outlet was having an amazing sale this holiday weekend and I was finally able to score a piece from their adorable gingham line. I can already tell I will be wearing this bag all summer long.

Sunday Haul

Apologies for the lack of posts, but I have been cramming and writing and driving myself nuts over finals for the past few weeks (and the madness continues for 10 more days)!

In between studying today I decided to pop into Old Navy and found some amazing deals. Everything in store is 30% off till tomorrow (Pixie Pants included)! I mean, I deserve this, right?

Happy Sunday!

Pixie Pants

Old Navy has really stepped up their style game lately. After seeing the hilarious commercials and reading great testimonials I decided to give their Pixie Pants a whirl and let me tell you- they really are amazing. After about an hour of deciding on just one style I chose the "tuxedo" because of their classic-yet-sporty feel. They fit my 5-foot frame perfectly and have just the right amount of stretch, not to mention the fact that they go with practically everything!

Also, check out ON's selection of bucket bags- why spend more on the trend of the season, when you can score the perfect bag for under $35?

That Perfect Color

{Christian Siriano for Payless heels, H&M pants}

Don't you just love it when you find a beautiful pair of shoes to accompany your favorite pair of pants? It's a once in a blue moon feeling and it's a very joyous occasion. I can't wait to take these beauties out to celebrate!

Getting Crafty

I love, love, love fresh flowers. There is nothing that makes me happier when drowning in homework and internship requirements than looking over and seeing these beauties on my desk.  I made this mug just before spring break at a school event and I am very happy (and surprised) with how well it turned out! I love this quote and gold polka dots just make my heart sing!

Have you done any fun DIYs lately?

Light Leather

{Bernardo leather jacket (shop them at Nordstrom), H&M dress, Madden Girl heels (old, similar here)}

While I'm very sad spring break has come and gone, I am excited (and so, so ready) to finish this semester. And the best way to kick my butt into gear? A new haircut! This is definitely my favorite hairstyle I have ever had- it's so easy to maintain and always looks good. Anyway, I've expressed my love for leather jackets before on the blog and this one is my current obsession. It truly looks good with everything. I have another one from Bernardo in gray and they are the best you can get for your money, for sure!

Happy Monday!

Knee High Boots

{Gap tee, DKNY jeans, Forever 21 boots, Coach purse, Liz Claiborne watch, Jones New York sunglasses}

Boots are one of the hardest things to shop for- taking into account heel height, calf size, material, color, etc the process is endlessly frustrating. Until recently, I hadn't owned a pair in nearly 5 years, but when I saw these Forever 21 babies on sale for an unbelievable $11 I knew they had to be mine. I bought them less than 3 weeks ago and have worn them every other day since. I'd say they have certainly paid for themselves.

Knit Cap

{H&M cap (love it in blush), American Living top, DKNY jeans, Dexter flats, vintage bag, Jones New York sunglasses}

I think this hat draws attention to my major ombre situation (read: disaster) right now. Thank goodness I am chopping it all off in less than 2 weeks! Anyway, Florida blessed us with beautiful weather all weekend so I spent all of Sunday scouring flea markets, and enjoying sweet tea and boiled peanuts.

The Best Skin Care Product

Let me start things off by saying this thing is amazing. Seriously. I had heard about Clarisonic for years, but never really gave the brand much thought- I mean how could an expensive brush really make any difference? Oh boy was I wrong.

Last month I went to the dermatologist, as I do every 3 months, for an acne check up (the perils of barely being out of your teens). After going over my routine from top to bottom she asked me what I use to exfoliate.

"St. Ives," I replied, very self-assuredly.
"NO!" she literally screamed at me. "Give that to a friend you hate and forget about it."

After pressing her why and how this $3.99 OTC product could be so bad, she explained how beaded products, like St. Ives and similar brands, tear microscopic holes in your skin, do not clean deeply at all and are simply a waste of money. You're better off not exfoliating at all.

She said I needed to get a Clarisonic. If I had any hope of erasing my acne scars or living a happy life ever I needed to invest in one. After 2 weeks of wrestling with my bank account, prodding my best girlfriends for extensive reviews and reading this post from Gal Meets Glam, I decided to fork over the $99 for the Mia First.

I have been using the Mia for 3 weeks now and I have never been happier with my skin. My pores are shrinking, breakouts have subsided, scars are healing and overall my skin looks amazingly bright. I am in disbelief and so very excited. I could not recommend another skin product higher. If you suffer from any similar issues, it is definitely worth the investment.

Similar experiences? Questions? Ask away!

Sunday Reads

So I know everyone recommends articles to read around the web on weekends, but I feel like I found some especially good ones this week and just had to share!

First things first, I am sick. I hate feeling yucky (also: and cold and wet). Luckily, Man Repeller has a (naturally) humorous guide to not getting sick during fashion week...but it totally applies to those of us who are 3 weeks away from midterms too.

This Refinery 29 post on how to do anything alone makes me feel really good. It's just fate when the perfect article comes along at just the right moment.

I eat up Kate Middleton gossip like its the zombie apocalypse and I've stumbled upon the last stores of pumpkin spice. Anyway, apparently Kate's wardrobe is getting a couture kick and longer hemlines, per the queen's request. Oh my!

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Pops of Color

{Gap tee (similar), J.Crew skirt, Liz Claiborne bag, Sofft wedges (in patent leather), Jones New York sunglasses}

This is basically my weekend uniform. A skirt, a striped tee, and a great bag. I've been trying to incorporate more color into my wardrobe and I think it's working! M number one tip would be to choose two colors that really work well together and then add the neutrals. And viola!

Date Night + News(!)

{DKNY dress (similar), Kate Spade New York clutch, St. Johns Bay coat, Kenneth Jay Lane earrings (just $10 from Rent the Runway!)

Guys. It's cold. In case you can't tell from my suffering face and the fact that half of these pictures were taken inside, I struggled a lot throughout the taking of these photos. All in the name of fashion! I wore this last week when my boyfriend and I ventured out into the Floridian Tundra (by that I mean 40 degrees. No shame.) to celebrate his birthday. This dress is another major steal from the amazing Saks sale earlier this month and I love, love, love it.

Now onto NEWS!
I am very excited to announce that I am Rent the Runway at University of Florida's newest Social Media rep! Check us out on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and join me in saving 90% off retail!

On Point

{Vintage sweater (love this Free People one) and earrings, Mine blouse}

I am just now discovering the sweet magic of adding a collared shirt under a sweater (yes, I am aware how many decades behind I am. I do believe even Queen Elizabeth knew more about layering than I do... case in point).  Anyway, this chunky sweater was my grandmother's and I adore the warm, soft wool.

What are your favorite fashion tricks?

ToS On Pinterest

It seems now that school is back in session, I'm more obsessed with Pinterest than ever. I mean, there really is no better escape from the rain and the homework and the boring brick buildings than a little virtual trip to Paris or Saks!

Military-Inspired

{Elizabeth and James blazer (similar from Nordstrom), DKNY jeans, Liz Claiborne bag (this season's version on sale!), Levity wedges (similar), Jones New York sunglasses, vintage jewelry}

Real talk. This blazer was 96% off at Nordstrom Rack, the only one left, and just my size. This was a sign from the universe, right? (As the cashier rung it up, I swear my heart skipped a beat when he said it was just $20.) Luckily, I adore it and can't wait to spend the rest of this warm winter weather in it!

Blue for Brunch

{Wet Seal tee, 5/48 skirt (similar and on sale), Coach bag, Dexter flats}

Not to brag, but the weather in Florida was fantastic this weekend- perfect for brunch outside by the Butterfly Garden. I scored this skirt from Saks Off Fifth during their insane sale (which is still going on!) and I love how amazingly versatile it is. Expect to see me in this many, many times in the future.

Home & Away

{Anthropologie mug (black and white version in stock)}

Apparently "Home and Away" is an Australian television show which I had mistaken for the awful Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman fare, "Far and Away." Regardless, I am happy to be back at school, at my own space and happily finding places for all of my new goodies acquired over the holidays. I have been ogling this Anthropologie mug for months so when I spotted the gold "A" on sale(!) just had to have it!

What was your favorite holiday steal?

Blues and Greens

{Forever 21 cape, Gap pants (this season's version), Gap sweater (similar and on sale), Dexter flats, Coach bag}

I cannot get enough of this bag. I have sworn by neutral totes my whole life, but recently little green bags have won my heart over.  Also, if anyone knows how Coach's monogram policy works, please share! I am looking to get the beige tag done with my initials.

Happy 2014!
